I’m not computer geek so I had to spend some time to make wuala file system integration working on my ubuntu. Somehow, on my fresh installation it start working with no sweat at all. Previously I have tried to do it on my developing machine where not everything is right. So, after adding one line in etc/fstab (make sure you have: portmap and nfs-common – “sudo apt-get install portmap nfs-common“):
localhost:/wuala /home/yourname/wuala/direct nfs defaults,users,noauto,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=60,acregmin=10,noac,intr,nolock,soft
everything is working nice and smoothly.
And wuala, yet another online storage system. Is it really “another one”? I have seen many services like box, dropbox, skydrive, livedrive and so on… So why bother with something else? The answer is the wuala is not a centralized online storage, it is based on network similar to torrent where fragments of files are spread all over the world. It gives to the end user nearly unlimited storage space and very fast downloads. By saying unlimited storage space wuala gives you two options: you can trade storage which means wuala will use part of your hard drive or you can buy additional storage. When you trading wuala does some math relaying on your online time. Obviously if you will trade 1TB but you online only few minutes there is no actually increase in total storage, but if you will trade for example 20GB and you online time is 100% – 24/7 then you will get additional 20GB in your storage. You can have your uploaded files online just for you (private), shared with friends or by secret weblink on share them with anyone on the net. All files on your storage are encrypted before they leave your computer and sliced into small packs so nobody can see them unless he or she got a shared key. It’s fast, because when you want to download some file your computer is downloading bits from many computers around you. Here you can check-out my space:

You can use a desktop client on your MS Windows, Mac or linux. So far I am really happy with wuala and I would recommend it.
Now is one month since I use Dropbox. It is online storage system, where my datas are synchronised. Service is creating a folder “Dropbox” on your harddrive and all files stored in this folder are automatic copied onto your personal, secured webspace. If you have installed Dropbox software on other computers, in my case I have it on my laptop (linux Ubuntu), home pc (Windows XP) and works PC (Windows XP), all “Dropbox” folder are indentical – files are copied up to net and from there down to all other computers. Its simple, easy and quick way to have your data everywhere with you. I can now forget abut my memorystick. I you still want to use memorystick you can always use portable version which will synchronize folder from your pendrive. First 2GB is free and if you use my link: https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTEyNjkzODU5 you (and I) will gain another 250MB. I strongly recomend this service/software.
Now here are some photos from our trip to Trentham Estate. Very beautiful and relaxing place. Big lake surrounded by amazing garden and children playground. Everyone will find something, place for picnic, before entrance – shops, pubs and restaurants. Inside a lots of space for kids to play. You can go on a boat and have a look at grounds from lake or if you prefer hire your own a rowing boat. If you like gardening you can take some of your flowers and swap them with something new or just buy one. And everything just few minutes of M6 J15.
Don’t praise the day before the sunset…
in a quarter may start raining.
